Financial Services Start-Up


Led the development of a £50m+ profit retail financial services business, including business analysis and strategy, product specification, business architecture and systems design, financial planning. Negotiated partnerships with financial service organisations and managed the partner relationships.

Core Banking Systems


Led the joint venture developing the replacement core banking system (CBS) for a major business Bank. This programme had at its peak several hundred staff working in development and implementation, and required close co-ordination with other outsourced service providers and bank customer facing and treasury staff. Not only were the core transactional processes replaced but online web access was provided for customer self maintenance. The programme was judged a major success by the Bank.

IT Outsource Restructuring


One of the UK’s leading Banks inherited an IT outsource contract through a merger. The contract had to be renegotiated to reflect the demands of the new bigger business and a different sourcing culture. Whilst the basic principles of the contract were maintained, it was successfully changed to allow both vendor and Customer to operate for a further 2 years.

Financial Services Off-shoring


A major credit card issuer wished to reduce costs for exception processing. The process chosen for its trial was the visa credit card fraud recovery process. The process was gradually transferred to India using biometric security. The transfer was a success, with the Indian team recovering substantially more than its UK counterpart, and with lower overheads. The card issuer then repeated the process with its debit card operations.

Basel II Compliance


Compliance with Basel II recommendations for the international convergence of capital measurement and standards required a major systems and change programme for a major business banking client. The programme involved developing the key requirement of a single customer view across geographic, corporate bank and customer entities. This single view then informed the bank’s credit and collateral management business processes.

Money Laundering Systems


Business processes to curtail and track Money laundering activities became a high priority for regulatory compliance in 2002, requiring improved systems to support decision making and investigations. This involved visibility through improved systems of multiple digital and business information sources was successfully delivered through programmes of work in a major business and retail bank.

Vehicle Leasing Cost Reduction


A major vehicle leasing group wanted to reduce costs and improve effectiveness by merging the finance departments of the 4 legacy companies in the group. The programme of work introduced new systems and standardised processes to bring build a function to serve the whole business.

Public Sector Systems


A government initiative to restructure the provision of funding for education and training led to the requirement for major systems change in the area, pulling together multi- site funding provision into a more centralised function. This required green field requirements definition and several programmes of change as the new departmental functions developed.
